What is the VLPT-42HUC and what does it do?

The VLPT-42HUC is a 4x2 HDMI and USB-C huddle room switcher. It takes four video sources — two HDMI and two USB-C — and routes them independently to two HDMI displays at up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. It also shares USB peripherals across sources over KVM, charges USB-C laptops, embeds and de-embeds analog audio, and controls the displays and external devices through CEC, IR, RS-232, LAN, and GPIO.

Can the two outputs show different sources at the same time?

Yes. Each of the two HDMI outputs has its own independent source selector, so the displays can show two different inputs simultaneously, mirror the same source, or run as separate zones. Each output switches on its own, in either automatic or manual mode.

How is the VLPT-42HUC different from the 2x1 models?

The VLPT-42HUC is the larger switcher in the range. It accepts four inputs (two HDMI, two USB-C) and drives two independently routed HDMI outputs, where the VLPT-21HUC (one HDMI, one USB-C) and VLPT-21UUC (two USB-C) each switch two inputs to a single display. Choose the 4x2 when a room needs more sources, a second display, or independent dual-zone routing; choose a 2x1 for a single-display huddle room.

How much charging do the USB-C inputs provide?

Each of the two USB-C inputs delivers up to 50W of USB Power Delivery, for 100W total across both ports. Total unit power draw is 41W without USB-C charging and up to 149W when delivering the full 100W.

What can the USB-C inputs do besides carry video?

Each USB-C input carries 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 video via DP Alt Mode along with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) data, 1G Ethernet to the connected laptop, and USB Power Delivery charging — a single-cable docking connection. The two HDMI inputs handle fixed sources such as room PCs and codecs.

How does USB KVM work on the VLPT-42HUC?

The switcher routes shared USB peripherals to whichever source is active. In addition to the USB data carried on the USB-C video inputs, dedicated USB-C (data-only) and USB-B host ports let HDMI-connected computers join the KVM, so a room camera, microphone, or keyboard and mouse on the USB-C and two USB-A device ports follow the active source regardless of how its video connects.

Does the VLPT-42HUC support automatic switching?

Yes. Each output supports both automatic and manual switching. Automatic switching uses signal detection and 5V detection to select an active source and can wake the whole system, including external devices. Manual switching is available per output from the front panel, and switching can also be driven over RS-232, TCP/IP, or the Web GUI.

How does the VLPT-42HUC handle audio?

It supports balanced or unbalanced analog audio on 5-pin phoenix connectors, which can be embedded into the USB or HDMI stream or de-embedded from it out to a room amplifier or DSP. Analog audio is LPCM 2-channel at 32-192kHz, and the USB/HDMI path passes the full range of Dolby and DTS formats through to the displays.

How is the VLPT-42HUC controlled and integrated into a room system?

The unit is managed from front-panel buttons, RS-232, TCP/IP, or a built-in Web GUI. It controls external devices and both displays through CEC, IR (with an IR eye for IR learning), RS-232, LAN, and GPIO, and includes automatic display on/off, letting it power the room displays on and off or hand off to a third-party control system.

What are the two Ethernet ports for?

The VLPT-42HUC has dual 1G Ethernet ports with 802.1x authentication and VLAN support, providing wired network connectivity for the switcher and connected devices, including network passthrough for laptops connected over USB-C, and management access to the Web GUI. VLAN support lets device and control traffic be segmented onto the correct network.

Does the VLPT-42HUC support HDR?

Yes. It passes HDR, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG through from source to display without conversion, so high-dynamic-range content reaches the displays in its native format.
