VLDT-OP2DT

  • Optical S/PDIF audio onto Dante®, converting a TV, media player, or TOSLINK source output to networked digital audio over one Cat cable

  • Pure digital conversion with no analog stage, preserving source fidelity at up to 130dB dynamic range

  • USB-C or PoE power (IEEE 802.3af Class 0) for single-cable, plug-and-play installation

  • AES67 support and a compact plastic enclosure for flexible mounting in multi-vendor Dante® networks

Product Description

The VLDT-OP2DT is a compact 2-channel Dante® optical input adapter that converts two-channel optical S/PDIF (TOSLINK) audio into Dante® digital audio and transmits it across a standard IP network. Built on the Dante® Ultimo 2x2 platform, it brings audio from TVs, media players, and other TOSLINK sources onto a Dante® network without long analog cable runs.

Because conversion is fully digital, the signal passes without loss for transparent, sample-accurate audio. The adapter accepts optical PCM at 32–192kHz and outputs Dante® audio at 44.1/48/88.2/96kHz, with configurable 1/2/5ms Dante® latency and AES67 support. Power comes from either the local USB-C port or PoE (IEEE 802.3af Class 0), and the compact plastic housing installs quickly with the included hook-and-loop fasteners.

Ideal Applications

TV & Media Player Audio Capture
Bring audio from TVs, media players, and TOSLINK sources onto a Dante® network. The VLDT-OP2DT converts optical output to networked audio and routes it to DSPs, recorders, or zone amplifiers without a separate analog feed.

Recording Studios & Content Production
Capture two-channel program audio from optical sources for recording and monitoring. The lossless digital path keeps studio-grade fidelity intact from source to network.

Live Events & Performance Spaces
Add optical audio sources at concerts, art festivals, and staged productions. PoE power and a single Cat cable simplify placement wherever a TOSLINK source sits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the VLDT-OP2DT do?
It converts two-channel optical S/PDIF audio into Dante® network audio and sends it across a standard IP network. This lets audio from a TV, media player, or other TOSLINK source be routed, recorded, or amplified anywhere on a Dante® system without a separate analog cable.

What kind of optical connection does it use?
A standard optical S/PDIF (TOSLINK) input, the same connector found on most TVs, soundbars, and media players. The adapter accepts two-channel PCM audio over that optical link and puts it onto Dante®.

How is the VLDT-OP2DT powered?
Two ways: local USB-C power (5V/500mA) or Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af Class 0). PoE lets a single network cable carry both power and Dante® audio, with maximum draw of just 0.69W.

Does it support AES67?
Yes. AES67 support allows the VLDT-OP2DT to interoperate with other manufacturers' networked audio systems, so it fits mixed-vendor environments alongside Dante® devices.

What sampling rates does it support?
Optical input accepts PCM at 32kHz to 192kHz; Dante® output runs at 44.1, 48, 88.2, or 96kHz, both at 16 or 24-bit. Dante® latency is configurable to 1, 2, or 5ms in Dante® Controller.
