Product Description
The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX is the host-side transmitter unit for VigilLink's USB 3.2 Gen 1 extension system. It connects directly to a host computer via USB Type-B and sends USB 3.2 Gen 1 data at up to 5 Gbps over a single Cat6A/7 shielded cable — bridging the gap between a host system in a rack, credenza, or control room and USB devices located up to 100 meters away. Compliant with USB 3.2 Gen 1 standards and backward compatible with USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and USB 1.1, it operates transparently without driver installation on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
RS-232 and FSYNC GPIO passthrough travels across the same Cat cable link as USB data, enabling direct control and frame synchronization of industrial or broadcast cameras at the remote end without a separate control cable run. The built-in two-way PoH+ module means a single DC power adapter — connected at either the TX or RX end, whichever has accessible power — supplies both units across the extension cable. Firmware updates are handled via the onboard micro-USB port.
The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX is designed to work with the VLEX-UB32CBB-RX receiver and is forward-compatible with upcoming VigilLink USB 3.2 family receivers and wallplate transmitter variants.

Ideal Applications
Industrial Automation & Machine Vision
Factory deployments place the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX at the control workstation or PLC cabinet, connecting to the host system while extending USB 3.2 Gen 1 bandwidth and FSYNC GPIO trigger signals to USB machine vision cameras mounted on production lines or inspection stations up to 100 meters away. The hardware-only architecture ensures deterministic performance without driver dependencies — critical in industrial OS environments where software installations are tightly controlled.
Outdoor Surveillance & Security
The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX installs indoors at the security workstation or NVR location, where AC power is available. Two-way PoH+ then powers the remote VLEX-UB32CBB-RX receiver over the Cat cable run — eliminating the need to provision AC power at outdoor camera enclosures, guard posts, or rooftop mounts. ESD protection rated at ±8kV air-gap discharge adds resilience against outdoor electrical transients that can propagate along cable runs.
Medical Imaging & Clinical Environments
In clinical settings, the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX connects to an imaging workstation or cart-based computer at a location with power and network access, extending USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity to diagnostic devices, input peripherals, or storage arrays at the point of care. No driver installation means no compatibility conflicts with locked-down medical OS configurations. The plug-and-play connection allows devices to be swapped at the receiver end without any changes at the host.
Corporate AV & Conference Rooms
The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX installs in an AV rack or credenza alongside the host computer or codec, connecting via USB Type-B while the Cat6A/7 cable runs to the VLEX-UB32CBB-RX at the conference table or ceiling mount. This keeps all active compute hardware secured in the rack while USB peripherals — webcams, speakerphones, room control touchscreens — remain accessible at the point of use. Two-way PoH+ eliminates the need for a separate power outlet at the receiver location.
Broadcast & Production Facilities
In broadcast environments, the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX sits at the production desk or equipment rack, maintaining the USB host connection while extending data and RS-232/FSYNC control signals to cameras, capture devices, and peripherals positioned up to 100 meters away on the studio floor or in a remote camera position. The RS-232 passthrough enables PTZ and lens control commands to travel the same Cat cable as USB data, reducing cabling complexity in already dense broadcast infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What receiver is compatible with the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX? The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX is designed to pair with the VLEX-UB32CBB-RX receiver. It is also forward-compatible with future VigilLink USB 3.2 family receivers and wallplate variants as they become available. Always verify compatibility in the product documentation before pairing with new family members.
Does the transmitter need to be powered if the receiver has power? No. The two-way PoH+ module means a single DC adapter at either end — TX or RX — powers the complete link. If the receiver has accessible power, the transmitter draws power over the Cat cable and requires no local adapter. The reverse is equally true: power the TX and the RX receives power through the link.
What cable does the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX require to reach 100 meters? Cat6A or Cat7 F/FTP or U/FTP shielded cable is required for the full 100-meter extension distance. Shielded construction is mandatory at 5 Gbps over this distance — unshielded Cat6 will not reliably sustain the link. Ensure all cable terminations meet Cat6A/7 specifications.
Is driver installation required? No. The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX is fully plug and play. Connect it to the host computer via USB Type-B and the operating system recognizes it immediately — no driver installation required on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
What USB transfer protocols does the transmitter support? The hardware architecture supports all four USB transfer protocol types: Control, Bulk, Interrupt, and Isochronous. Isochronous support is essential for time-sensitive device streams such as webcams, USB audio interfaces, and frame-sync industrial cameras, where retransmission-based protocols would introduce unacceptable latency.
Can the VLEX-UB32CBB-TX connect to USB 2.0 host ports? The VLEX-UB32CBB-TX connects to the host via USB Type-B. While the unit supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 at 5 Gbps, connecting to a USB 2.0 host port will limit the link to USB 2.0 speeds (480 Mbps). For full 5 Gbps performance, connect to a USB 3.x host port.
How is firmware updated on the transmitter? Firmware is updated via the micro-USB (FW) port on the transmitter. Connect a micro-USB cable from the TX to a computer with the firmware update utility and follow the update procedure in the system user manual.
Does the RS-232 and FSYNC passthrough require separate configuration? No. RS-232 and FSYNC GPIO signals pass transparently across the Cat cable link alongside USB data — no configuration or activation is needed. The host system communicates with RS-232 or FSYNC-connected devices at the receiver end exactly as if directly wired.
