Product Description
The VLDT-XL44DB is a Dante®-enabled 4x4 audio bridge that converts analog audio signals to and from the Dante® network standard. Built on the DEP (Dante Embedded Platform) architecture, this unit handles up to 4 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs. The analog inputs utilize XLR/TRS combo jacks supporting both balanced and unbalanced connections, with 48V phantom power and 6-level sensitivity adjustment available. Analog outputs offer 5-level gain control for precise signal management.
Integrated DSP provides comprehensive audio processing including gain control, equalization, and delay adjustments. Configuration is straightforward through either the built-in web GUI or standard Dante® Controller software.
The unit supports both primary and secondary Dante® networks for enhanced redundancy and reliability. Power options include PoE (Power over Ethernet) or local DC supply, providing flexible installation choices. This cost-effective 1U rack-mountable unit delivers an efficient solution for professional AV installations, integrating seamlessly with diverse audio equipment while dramatically reducing system cabling complexity.

Ideal Applications
Large-Scale Corporate AV Systems
Ideal for enterprise conference centers, boardrooms, and multi-purpose spaces requiring multiple microphone inputs and zone outputs. Connect up to four wireless microphone receivers, podium mics, or ceiling microphones to your Dante® network infrastructure, routing audio to DSPs, recording systems, and multiple room zones simultaneously. The dual PoE+ power on both network ports ensures uninterrupted operation even if one power source fails, critical for high-stakes presentations and video conferences where audio reliability is non-negotiable.
Live Performance & Entertainment Venues
Essential for theaters, concert halls, and performance spaces where multiple analog sources need reliable Dante® network integration. Bridge four stage microphones, instrument preamps, or wireless systems to your digital mixing console and monitor system over standard network cabling. The enhanced 105dB dynamic range handles the full audio spectrum from whisper-quiet dialogue to powerful musical performances, while configurable 2-10ms latency allows precise synchronization with video displays and other time-critical systems.
Broadcast & Media Production Facilities
Perfect for television studios, radio stations, and content creation facilities requiring multiple simultaneous analog-to-Dante® conversions. Interface talk-back systems, legacy broadcast equipment, analog mixing consoles, and outboard processors with modern Dante®-based infrastructure. The standard 1U rack design integrates seamlessly into broadcast equipment racks, while dual network redundancy with automatic failover ensures continuous on-air operation even during network maintenance or cable damage.
Multi-Zone Audio Systems for Hospitality
Designed for hotels, convention centers, and large venues requiring flexible audio distribution to multiple zones. Connect four analog sources (background music, announcement systems, event audio) and route them to four different zones or combine them as needed using Dante® routing. PoE+ power on both network ports simplifies installation by eliminating separate power supplies, while the web GUI allows facility managers to adjust levels and EQ for each zone remotely without accessing the equipment rack.
Educational Campuses & Training Facilities
Perfect for universities, colleges, and corporate training centers requiring scalable audio infrastructure across multiple rooms and buildings. Bridge classroom microphones, lecture capture systems, and legacy audio equipment to a centralized Dante® network for recording, streaming, and multi-room distribution. The 8-band parametric EQ on each input allows customization for different room acoustics, while delay adjustment ensures perfect lip-sync when integrating with video conferencing and recording systems.

Frequently Asked Questions
What latency settings are available and when should I use them?
The VLDT-XL44DB offers configurable Dante® device latency of 2ms, 3ms, 4ms, 5ms, or 10ms (configured via Dante® Controller). Lower latencies (2-3ms) are ideal for live performance monitoring, stage communication, and applications where real-time response is critical. Higher latencies (5-10ms) provide greater network stability for large installations with many devices or when using longer cable runs. The 50ms analog delay adjustment allows additional fine-tuning for time alignment.
Does this work with other networked audio protocols besides Dante?
Yes, the VLDT-XL44DB supports both Dante® and AES67 audio protocols. AES67 is an interoperability standard allowing different manufacturers' networked audio systems to communicate. This means you can integrate the VLDT-XL44DB into mixed environments with Ravenna, Livewire, Q-LAN, or other AES67-compatible systems, providing flexibility in complex installations with equipment from multiple vendors.
How many devices can I connect on a Dante network with this bridge?
A single Dante® network can support thousands of devices. The VLDT-XL44DB contributes 4 input channels and 4 output channels to your network. With Gigabit Ethernet, you can have hundreds of audio channels flowing simultaneously. The limiting factor is typically your network switch capacity and proper network design, not the individual devices. The dual network ports allow daisy-chaining multiple units while maintaining redundancy.
Can I adjust EQ and gain remotely without physical access to the unit?
Yes, all DSP functions including gain, 8-band parametric EQ, and delay are configurable remotely through the built-in web GUI (accessible via any web browser on the network) or through Dante® Controller software. Once configured, settings are stored in the device memory and persist through power cycles. This allows system integrators and facility managers to make adjustments from a central control room without visiting equipment racks.
Is phantom power individually controllable on each input?
Yes, the VLDT-XL44DB allows independent +48V phantom power control on each of the four inputs. This flexibility means you can use condenser microphones (which require phantom power) on some inputs while using dynamic microphones or line-level equipment (which don't require phantom power) on others, all within the same unit. Configuration is done through the web GUI or Dante® Controller.
What happens if the primary Dante network fails during operation?
The VLDT-XL44DB features automatic failover between primary and secondary Dante® networks. If the primary network connection is lost (due to cable damage, switch failure, or network issues), the unit seamlessly switches to the secondary network with minimal audio interruption. When the primary network is restored, the unit can automatically fail back (depending on Dante® Controller settings). This redundancy is essential for mission-critical applications like live broadcast, concerts, and corporate presentations.
