About HDBaseT Wall Plates & Receivers
VigilLink's sold-separately HDBaseT wall plate transmitters and receivers give AV integrators the flexibility to build custom single-drop or multi-drop systems by selecting transmitters and receivers independently — pairing a wall plate transmitter with a matrix switcher HDBaseT input, an existing compatible receiver, or a VigilLink HDBaseT receiver that matches specific output requirements. All models operate on HDBaseT 2.0, delivering 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 at 18Gbps over a single CAT6 cable run up to 40 meters.
Four models cover the range: two wall plate transmitters (VLWP-2HVG-TX and VLWP-HD70-TX) and two matched receivers (VLWP-2HVG-RX and VLWP-HD70-RX). The VLWP-2HVG-TX is a 2x1 auto-switching transmitter accepting VGA and HDMI 2.0, is the only model in the VigilLink wall plate line to include VGA input for legacy source compatibility. The VLWP-HD70-TX is a compact single-input HDMI 2.0 HDBaseT transmitter with POC. Each transmitter has a corresponding matched receiver with complementary output and control features.
Choosing the Right Wall Plate & Rx
VLWP-2HVG-TX / VLWP-2HVG-RX (VGA/HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, KVM, IR, RS-232, POC): The VLWP-2HVG-TX accepts VGA and HDMI 2.0 inputs with auto-switching, plus USB 2.0 and POC. Its matched receiver (VLWP-2HVG-RX) outputs HDMI and provides USB 2.0 KVM, IR, RS-232, and POC. This is the correct choice for any installation requiring VGA legacy source support or KVM functionality at the display end.
VLWP-HD70-TX / VLWP-HD70-RX (HDMI 2.0, POC, IR, RS-232): The VLWP-HD70-TX is a streamlined single-input HDMI 2.0 wall plate transmitter with POC — ideal when a dedicated HDMI source point is needed without multi-input switching, or when pairing with an HDBaseT matrix switcher input. Its matched receiver (VLWP-HD70-RX) outputs HDMI with IR and RS-232 for display control. Choose this pair for clean HDMI-only installs or matrix integration.
Frequently Asked Questions
What products are included in the sold-separately wall plate range?
Four products are available: VLWP-2HVG-TX (2x1 VGA/HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, POC transmitter), VLWP-2HVG-RX (HDMI, USB 2.0 KVM, IR, RS-232, POC receiver), VLWP-HD70-TX (HDMI 2.0, POC transmitter), and VLWP-HD70-RX (HDMI, IR, RS-232, POC receiver). Transmitters and receivers are purchased separately and must be matched by family (2HVG or HD70).
Can the VLWP-HD70-TX or VLWP-2HVG-TX be paired with a matrix switcher instead of a dedicated receiver?
Yes. Both transmitters output a standard HDBaseT 2.0 signal compatible with HDBaseT matrix switcher inputs. For matrix installations, purchase the transmitter only — no receiver is needed at the source end. Verify HDBaseT 2.0 compatibility with the matrix switcher's HDBaseT input specifications before deployment.
Does the VLWP-2HVG-TX auto-switch between VGA and HDMI inputs?
Yes. The VLWP-2HVG-TX automatically detects and switches to the active input — VGA or HDMI — without manual intervention. If both sources are connected simultaneously, the transmitter prioritizes based on the most recently active signal.
What is KVM and how does it work on the VLWP-2HVG-RX?
KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) extension allows a keyboard and mouse connected at the receiver (display) end to control the computer connected at the wall plate transmitter (source) end over the HDBaseT link. The VLWP-2HVG-RX provides USB 2.0 ports at the display location; devices plugged in there are recognized by the source computer at the wall plate location as locally connected USB peripherals.
What VGA resolutions does the VLWP-2HVG-TX support?
The VLWP-2HVG-TX supports standard VGA resolutions including up to 1920×1200. The VGA input is converted and transmitted over HDBaseT; at the VLWP-2HVG-RX, output is HDMI at the native VGA resolution. VGA does not carry audio — when VGA is the active source, audio is not transmitted unless a separate analog audio path is provided.
How does IR extension work on the HD70-RX and 2HVG-RX receivers?
Both receiver models include an IR receiver and IR blaster pass-through. An IR remote pointed at the display location sends the command to the receiver's IR sensor, which relays it over HDBaseT to an IR blaster at the wall plate transmitter end — controlling the source device. Bidirectional IR is also supported where the source equipment sends IR back toward the display.
What power options are available for the sold-separately transmitters and receivers?
Both transmitter models (VLWP-2HVG-TX and VLWP-HD70-TX) support POC — receiving power from the paired receiver over the Cat6 cable. The receivers include a local power supply. POC eliminates the need for a separate power outlet at the wall plate transmitter location, which is often inside a furniture chase, lectern, or gang box where outlet access is limited.
Are the 2HVG and HD70 transmitters and receivers interchangeable?
No. The VLWP-2HVG-TX is designed to pair with the VLWP-2HVG-RX, and the VLWP-HD70-TX with the VLWP-HD70-RX. Cross-pairing (2HVG-TX with HD70-RX or vice versa) is not supported as the models have different feature sets and handshake profiles. Always use matched transmitter/receiver pairs.
