About Dante® Wall Plate Converters

Dante® wall plate audio converters bring professional networked audio directly to the room — converting analog XLR, analog RCA/3.5mm, and Bluetooth audio sources into the Dante® IP audio network from a standard US 1-gang or 2-gang wall box, without rack-mount Dante® bridge hardware. VigilLink's Dante® wall plate range includes three models covering the most common room audio input scenarios: the VLDT-XL22WPUS for balanced XLR microphone and line-level connections, the VLDT-WP22B2AUS for Bluetooth wireless and analog RCA/3.5mm inputs, and the VLDT-BT2WPUS for Bluetooth-only 1-gang installations.

All three models are PoE-powered from the room's network switch — no local power supply or additional wiring beyond the Cat cable serving the network connection. Once installed, each wall plate appears as a standard Dante® device on the network and is configured and routed using the free Dante® Controller software, exactly like any rack-mount Dante® bridge or audio processor.

Choosing the Right Dante® Wall Plate

VLDT-XL22WPUS (2x XLR In, 2x XLR Out, Dante®, US 2-Gang): The professional microphone and line-level model. Accepts up to two balanced XLR inputs — condenser or dynamic microphones, wireless mic receivers, or line-level sources — and outputs up to two balanced XLR outputs driven from the Dante® network. This is the standard choice for conference rooms, lecture halls, and huddle spaces requiring wired microphone connectivity at the wall without a visible rack-mount audio bridge. Fits a standard US 2-gang box.

VLDT-WP22B2AUS (2ch Bluetooth + Analog RCA/3.5mm to Dante®, US 2-Gang): The flexible presenter audio model. Accepts Bluetooth wireless audio and analog RCA or 3.5mm input simultaneously — allowing a presenter's mobile device to stream wirelessly while a secondary analog source (laptop headphone jack, portable player) also feeds the system. Both inputs are converted to 2-channel Dante® audio. Fits a standard US 2-gang box.

VLDT-BT2WPUS (2ch Bluetooth to Dante®, 1-Gang): The compact Bluetooth-only model. Converts 2-channel Bluetooth audio to Dante® in the smallest possible form factor — a single US 1-gang box. Ideal for huddle rooms, small meeting spaces, and any location where Bluetooth wireless audio input is required without the space or need for a 2-gang installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Dante® wall plate models does VigilLink offer?

Three models are available. The VLDT-XL22WPUS provides 2-in/2-out balanced XLR analog-to-Dante® conversion in a US 2-gang plate. The VLDT-WP22B2AUS converts Bluetooth and analog RCA/3.5mm audio to Dante® in a US 2-gang plate. The VLDT-BT2WPUS is a compact 2-channel Bluetooth-over-Dante® converter in a 1-gang plate. All three are PoE-powered from the network switch.

How are VigilLink Dante® wall plates powered?

All three Dante® wall plate models are powered by PoE (Power over Ethernet) from the network switch. No separate power supply, outlet, or power adapter is required. The Cat6 or Cat5e cable connecting the wall plate to the network switch carries both data and power. Verify that the network switch provides PoE on the port connected to the wall plate.

Does the VLDT-XL22WPUS support phantom power for condenser microphones?

Check the product datasheet for the VLDT-XL22WPUS for current phantom power specifications. If phantom power (+48V) is required for condenser microphones and the wall plate does not provide it, an inline phantom power injector or a microphone preamplifier with phantom power can be placed between the microphone and the wall plate XLR input.

How are Dante® wall plates configured and routed?

Dante® wall plate models appear as standard Dante® devices on the network and are configured using the free Dante® Controller software from Audinate — the same application used to manage any other Dante® device. Channel routing from the wall plate to DSPs, amplifiers, recorders, or other Dante® devices is done entirely in software with no physical patching required. The web GUI (where available) handles device settings such as input gain.

What Bluetooth version and range do the Bluetooth models support?

The VLDT-WP22B2AUS and VLDT-BT2WPUS support standard Bluetooth audio pairing. Refer to the individual product datasheets for the specific Bluetooth version and rated operating range. Typical Bluetooth audio range in an unobstructed environment is approximately 10 meters; walls and obstructions reduce effective range. Only one Bluetooth device can be paired and active at a time.

Can the VLDT-XL22WPUS outputs be used to send audio from the Dante® network to a local speaker or amplifier?

Yes. The two XLR outputs on the VLDT-XL22WPUS receive audio from the Dante® network — any Dante® channel routed to this wall plate's outputs in Dante® Controller will appear on the XLR output jacks. This allows the wall plate to drive a local monitor speaker, confidence speaker, or analog amplifier at the room without separate Dante® output hardware.

What network switch requirements apply to these Dante® wall plates?

A Gigabit Ethernet switch with PoE support is required. For best results, Audinate recommends a managed Gigabit switch with IGMP snooping and QoS (Quality of Service) enabled on the Dante® VLAN. Unmanaged switches may work in very small systems but are not recommended for installations with multiple Dante® devices. The switch port connected to each wall plate must provide PoE at the wattage required by the specific model.

What is the audio quality of the Dante® wall plate converters?

Dante® wall plate converters deliver professional-grade audio quality consistent with VigilLink's Dante® product line. Audio is transmitted at up to 48kHz sampling rate at 24-bit depth over the Dante® network. Analog input quality depends on the specific model's preamp and ADC specifications — refer to the individual product datasheets for dynamic range, THD+N, and frequency response figures for each model.
